Train then walk
Fancy a day’s walk in the beautiful High Weald area of East Sussex? Why not take a train to Wadhurst on the London to Hastings line, which serves stations including Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Waterloo East, London Bridge, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells?
From Wadhurst station we have a 16 mile walk, mainly on footpaths with beautiful views of the High Weald and the local villages. It takes you on a loop through Wadhurst village arriving at the lovely village of Mayfield at about midway, where you can find a wide range of refreshments. Mayfield is a historic village which formed the centre of the English iron industry in the 16th Century and you can see a cannon on displaay that was made in that period as well as medieval houses.
